When picking your harrow bat we would always recommend coming to visit us in store and choosing from our massive stocks and getting the best expert advice from our team. However, if this is not possible then there are some very important thing to consider when picking your bat.

Firstly it is important to have an idea of a budget in mind. Our Harrow bats range from around £60 up to over £200 and the main reason for this will be the quality or grade of willow. All our bats are constructed from quality English Willow, which gives the best performance when striking a leather cricket ball. English willow is graded firstly by the look with grade 1 bats usually have a minimum of 6 grains, evenly spaced and straight with no blemishes. However, looks can be deceiving and the other key note is the ping! Some willow will just ping more then others so having the opportunity to knock up a ball or mallet on the bat is a great way of checking this out.

Once you have an idea of budget and willow grade then next decision is profile or bat shape. Craftsman will shape the cricket bat by having the swell or sweet spot, which is usually the thickest and best performing part of the bat in different positions. High middle bats tend to suit players that like to play cross batted shots and low middle bats suit players looking to play straight and hitting the ball high and far.
